Hey everybody, Gretchen Wilson here. Today's fan question is from comes from Baker Richardson in Alma, Wisconsin. Baker says, "If you could spend the day with a deceased artist, who would it be and why would you pick this particular person?"
I've been asked this question a few times and it's kind of a weird thing to think about - spending time with someone who's already passed. But the more I think about it, I feel like Janis Joplin would be a really cool person to spend some time with. She's somebody who's been very intriguing to me. There's not a lot that we really know about her personally or her personality. I feel a real closeness and a kinship to her just because she was so frank about what she said and how she said it. She was very much herself. I would have really liked to know her. That's all we have time for today; make sure you tune in tomorrow and we'll have another question for you!

Gretchen, I used to sing with my uncle's band and
a couple young girls told me I was a "country Janis Joplin". I had just sung "Divorce" and was going through one. At the time, I smiled and thanked them while thinking red-necked: "My hair ain't all messed up and I ain't on drugs"...LOL
Then I read a little book her sister wrote called simply "Love Janis"...it has letters she wrote in it and actually pictures that my son thought could be me. I admire her talent now and distress that she let the drugs and alcohol take her to an early grave. You'd love that little book. Ol' Kristofferson can tell ya all about her if you want to know more, call that ol' cutie.
They were really close for a long time. I used to do "Me and Bobby McGee" but I flat out was not gonna ruin my chords trying some of her other stuff! LOL
