How to Succeed

Taylor Swift

Posted on February 20, 2007 at 6:06 AM

Today's Fan Question: You have been an inspiration to me. I myself am a 17-year-old aspiring county singer. For teenagers like me who are hoping to become big singers and face the bumpy road to success, what do you suggest we do right now to prepare for a career in music and achieve the same success that you have?" Jason Bleau, Quinebaug, CT

Taylor: That's a really cool question. I started planning this out when I was 10 years old. I seriously went over everything that I could possibly do, all my options and started playing at festivals and fairs and karaoke contests. My advice to you is that you is to play anywhere you possibly can. Find something that will make you different. Are you one of those guys that wears a cowboy hat on stage, are you one of those guys that plays guitar? What do you do that makes you different? What's your thing?

When you come to Nashville — which is pretty much what you have to do, by the way — what do you have to offer? Hopefully you make it because there really aren't many young, male country singers in the business at all, which makes me very sad. Good luck to you. When you get to Nashville, good luck.

I've been reading these everyday.

Good advice. I'd like to add to this: Jason, if you're serious about it and are moving to Nashville in the future, heck even if you just want to sing country for fun and are in the Nashville area, be sure to look me up, because I'm moving there myself. If you ever want to be an opener at some small shows for me in the Nashville area, I may be able to help you out. My sites up this weekend so be sure to check that out. (linked to my name)

Taylor, I have curly blonde hair, blue eyes, I write songs and sing (in the shower or when its just my family or friends. Alot of people compare me to you but I say thats a far cry from reality. I don't think I could ever be as pretty as you. Your songs are fantastic and mine have been called great by friends. People say you are really nice and down to earth. They say you don't have the normal celebrity thing where the persons all uptight and stuff. They say its easy to get autogragh from you because they aren't so scared. They say something about you is almost calming and you smell nice. God blessed you and sorta blessed me. No matter what you will always be perfect. If only I could be half as good as you I'd be satisfied. By the way I'm only 13 so don't think this is from some freaky old person. It's just a hopeful fan saying how much you have inspired her. Thanks.

Dear Taylor,

I love to sing. And people say I sound like you and that makes me feel great. But the thing is that I don't like to sing in front of alot of people. I have a singing coach and shes says that you just have to not think about it. But I didn't do the school talent show because of it. I need to know how to get over it. That would be great, and then maybe some day I could meet you.

Yours truely
Emma S.

p.s. I am only 11 years old and one day I want t be like you.
