Today's Fan Question: "Could you ever be friends with someone who liked you but hated your music?" Samantha Elaine Birk, Graphton, OH

Read Taylor's Answer:

Taylor: That is intriguing. I have never had that happen. I dated guys who didn't care about my music and that never ended well. I dated this guy who said, "Oh, I just want you to know that I am dating you for you and not your music and I am dating you for who you are." That is very thoughtful but it doesn't really apply here because who I am is my music. I wake up in the morning and think about the next song that I am gonna write. My whole life is scheduled around my music. It's what I love, it's what I think about all the time.

There has to be a healthy balance with either a friend or a guy that I am dating, of course. I don't want them to use me for publicity or to try to get my money or whatever they feel like they could use me for. Of course you don't want that. That wouldn't be good at all. There has to be a fine balance. You can't ignore it because it does exist. I am a singer and songwriter. I am a country singer. This is what I do. Whoever is friends with me needs to realize that — it is so much a part of me.

Good job on being the GAC artist of the month! I'm pretty sure that platinum is in your future.

Everytime I leave a comment on your myspace site it's on the next page in ten minutes! We sent messages back and forth a couple times, then Tim McGraw came out and WHAM!

I'm supporting your career 100%. Oh, and opening for Brad, you're making the right moves here! Strait, Brad, and Rascal Flatts. No better way to build your fanbase.

Hey Taylor!

It's great that you spent the last few years in Nashville and it seems like your music was very accepted there. What do you have to say to kids who may like your music, but Country is not cool to listen to where they are at. My son won't put Country on his Ipod because of what his friends would say, so he changes the Genre to Rock or something else and only keeps the songs he really loves on there.

Thanks,
Scott

Hey Taylor!
Love your songs. The new video,"Teardrops on my guitar", came out pretty well! I think it should go out on the "top 20 countdown" list, just like "Tim McGraw" did. Ican't wait 'til your next video. Your latest one was kind of sad. I've been in that situation before.
