Keith Urban: We've played in Winnipeg a few times very cool and very cold. That's a really good question, Marissa. A lot of people have been asking me that of late. I'm influenced by a lot of different styles, like a lot of artists are. But I've grown up playing country music more than any other style of music. For me, it's inherent in what I do. Everybody labels music differently. I can't tell somebody what some sort of music is. It may be country to someone and really rock to someone else, or country pop to someone else. Everybody's got their own label for it.
What I look for are songs that say something, that connect. I love big, catchy choruses. I love songs that sound great on the radio. I make no apologies for that. I grew up listening to the radio, so I love radio songs. Cool, catchy songs.

Hey Keith, my mom & Dad took me to your concert in Sacromento for my 8th grade promotion. You are the first concert I've been to, and I had the best time of my life. You sang for 2 hours. I thought it was cool when the crowd did the cell phone wave. That was cool. If only all my friends would give you a chance. They won't listen to country. But I brag on how your my fav. They laugh when I sing "I got my Blue Jeans on". I have most of your Cds. You Rock!

I've always hated when people pigeoned-holed music into strict genres and that's just one of the reasons I've loved your music so much because it can't be labeled.
A wise man wrote once "But it's just good music
If you can feel it in your soul" and I feel your music in my soul.

Keith's music is awesome, no matter what type it's "labeled" as. Keith is an excellent performer, best guitarist, and amazing down-to-earth person. I just seen him in Milwaukee, WI last night. It was the best concert I have ever been to!

Keith, you are the greatest country singer out there. Keep doing what you do best. It sounds AWESOME!! By the way, I too wish my friends would give you a chance too. They are getting used to 'Blue Jeans' because I sing it ALL the TIME!!! Maybe there are people out there who are just not worthy of your greatness... Ha Ha!!!

I've had the pleasure of seeing Keith many times and have even met him once. He is truly one of the great people in the music business.
Is Keith country? Is Keith rock? Well, yes of course he is! Keith has always said that he grew up listening to rock music and of course it shows up in the music he plays now. I think there will always be a 'country' element to his music, but anyone who sees his current tour, knows that while sure... he is a country boy, but this country boy likes to let it go and ROCK. And his fans love it. Look at a song like Faster Car or I Told You So. Classic driving songs that wouldn't have got country airplay back in the day, but could easily be played on 'rock' stations. Or take an early hit like 'Where The Blacktop Ends'... He's reworked that with some new guitar lines and it sounds great, with only little resemblance to the song we knew 5 years ago. Radio has changed so much and I respect artists who don't try to write a song just to get airplay, even thought that's what pays the bills. Keith has always said that he's a 'commercial junkie', meaning that he likes commercial songs, songs that get radio play. When it comes natural and is not forced, it shines through, and I think that's what Keith has going for him. He may never get a #1 single off LPATWCT, but I don't think #1's are all that important to him. His fans love him, he loves playing live, and that's where his energy is focused now, along with keeping his life on track.

Hey Keith!
I can't find the words to express just how much I truly admire you as an artist and as a person. I have never fretted about whether your music is country, rock or pop. Doesn't matter! It's just awesome and thats all that matters. In my opinion, your talent and your personal values are head over heels so much superior to anyone in the music industry today. I'm so proud to be one of your many fans, Keith. Good luck in all of your future endeavors and in your marriage to Nicole. You two are so blessed to have found each other in your lifetimes.
