Keith Urban: We've played in Winnipeg a few times — very cool — and very cold. That's a really good question, Marissa. A lot of people have been asking me that of late. I'm influenced by a lot of different styles, like a lot of artists are. But I've grown up playing country music more than any other style of music. For me, it's inherent in what I do. Everybody labels music differently. I can't tell somebody what some sort of music is. It may be country to someone and really rock to someone else, or country pop to someone else. Everybody's got their own label for it.

What I look for are songs that say something, that connect. I love big, catchy choruses. I love songs that sound great on the radio. I make no apologies for that. I grew up listening to the radio, so I love radio songs. Cool, catchy songs.

Keith Urban: I've gotta say, I think being Australian is a huge part of what keeps me grounded. It's just the way it is there. You've gotta keep your feet on the ground and just be real. And the other side of it is, I love doing it. I love playing music. It's so natural to me. It's what I love to do. As passionate as I am about it, I don't take it so seriously. I don't get caught up in it. I try and keep it all in perspective. I have good and bad days like everybody else. But I think I've had long enough of paying my dues over a lot of years, so that it didn't all come at once. That's been helpful for me. A lot of artists have it happen really quick and it explodes really fast. It's hard to hang on to that. So I'm grateful that it took a long time to start coming around.

Keith Urban: Hi Hannah. I love that name! That's a good question. I love playing live, obviously, because it's what I've done longer than anything else. It's where I feel real comfortable. But I love recording, too. I can spend a long time in the studio. Songwriting, for me, has always been hard. Well, not always — sometimes, the really blessed ones come quick, which is great. But sometimes it's not easy for me and it doesn't feel natural. But I love when a song comes together. It's an amazing feeling, especially when you're writing with somebody. I can't really pick one out of all of those, and I hope, God willing, I never have to pick one, because I love doing them all.

Today's Fan Question: "I was wondering if you've ever recorded a song and then years later, listened to it and said to yourself, 'What was I thinking?" (Kristin, CO)

Keith Urban:(laughs) Well, I haven't recorded a song and thought, 'What was I thinking,' because it is what it is at the time. There are some songs I don't do anymore that I recorded years and years ago. As best I can, I try and think about, if I'm fortunate enough to do a song for the next umpteen years, 'Is this a song I'd want to do for a number of years?' I've been really fortunate to have songs that, so far, for me are holding out, that I love doing. So far so good.
