Hangin' with Gretchen

The weather from the west has descended onto Nashville. Rain, wind and thunder. Of course we can always use the rain but the problem with this weather? Bad timing. Two days till the 1/2 marathon. Let me tell you, it is a sight to see as you drive through downtown Nashville and see everyone with their running sneakers on getting in those last few miles before the big day! This rain isn't going to make it easy. Team Rio did their last long run this past weekend and it went well. It was good to see Diamond Rio's Jimmy Olander, who I call the team leader and movitator along with "Trainer Billy". The Rio guys don't have it easy when it comes to training on the weekends, because that's when they're on the road playing clubs. Let me tell you, and for those who have seen the guys you already know this but that Jimmy Olander is in some shape! A major muscle man! Anyway, I'll just be happy to see that finish line! And then the big night! Sara Evans and Keith Anderson - speaking of muscle men!! They'll take the stage to play for all the runners.

Let's see, oh, Gretchen Wilson came in to tape a GAC Nights. Look for her show to air May 22nd. We spent a half hour talking about the new music, men and life in general. I like to call this new CD Part 3. The album will street May 15th, called "One Of The Boys". It kind of picks up where the last two left off, kind of like a trilogy. Gretchen said she feels like these 3 albums are like her diary. She looks great by the way, and is psyched to get the new music out. While she was there we had her film some promo's to help promote GAC's live coverage of the ACM's Orange Carpet Show. She was a good sport about it. Nan and I got pretty goofy with the promo's. And Gretchen well she had to act like she thought we were "off our rockers". (She probably wasn't acting. Ha!) Off camera Gretchen and her manager were talking about some of her fans. She really cares and goes the distance. She even filmed something for one little guy to send him a congratulations on his latest achievement. While she was in the studio with us she got a call from her family back at her house that fans were trying to find her, and instead of getting upset she talked to them on the phone. Let's be honest, country artist are the most accessible artists in all of music, and fans really cross the boundaries. We have to remember that these artists are just like us and need their privacy when they are off the road. Can you imagine someone you never met coming up to your door to take your picture. It's a strange thing and can be very upsetting. I know Carrie Underwood has had to move because of fans coming to her house! When they're out being "the artist" well then it's okay, it's their job but off the road it's important that they are able to have some normalcy. It's just way too nutty sometimes!

One last thing - Jason Aldean is coming in. Any questions you guys have send 'em my way and I'll pick a few for you! Go to GAC Nights page to email 'em. Talk to you later. And as always, thanks for watching!
