2007 ACMS - What a night!

Posted on May 16, 2007 at 2:45 AM

Whew Weee! What a night! All that work, the preparation and it's over. It's kind of like the day after Christmas.

Nan and I went live from the orange carpet and there is always the excitement because GAC is the exclusive network to go live for the ACM's Pre-Show. Let me tell you guys how cool it was to see Shania! I know, you guys miss her and it was just neat to see her come out and be a part of presenting the Entertainer Of The Year Award and open the show to bring Reba out. Of course I asked her about new music, and she was pretty specific about writing songs that she wants to write, songs that she feels are true to herself and she said it's going to be a long process so do not expect anything this year. I know..bummer right? But we can wait. She seemed very at peace, very calming.

Kellie Pickler is always a lot of fun. Right before we went live she was just watching everyone, her eyes were going everywhere and of course I asked her "what the heck are you looking at?" She just takes everything in.

I didn't get to talk to Jake Owen but girls, he looked like a rock star, it was good to see him. Unfortunately when we go live you're sort of in the middle of another interview at a certain time and well you miss many artists as they walk by.

I saw Josh Turner although I think Nan Kelley got him on her end but I just love that guy. Talk about a voice!! And the funny thing, all the artists, and not that they aren't, but more so out here in Vegas for the ACM's, they are just more laid back. They all comment about how easy the award show is and they're all in good moods and willing to talk. Makes my job a heck of a lot easier. Ha! Oh yeah...Gretchen should you be reading this don't get mad at me for pointing this out, it's just that I can relate! Gretchen wore a dress for the first time! Yep! She said she felt kind of naked, let's be honest for those of us girls who prefer jeans and boots, the dress thing isn't always the most comfortable. You do feel out of sorts a bit. But Gretchen looked great! Everyone did.

Gosh there is so much to tell you guys... can't keep track. Oh, how cool that Paisley took Male Vocalist! He wanted that so I was really happy for him! Little Big Town! Love them too and they had an after show party to celebrate their win!

Miranda told me, Blake was in the bathroom when she won her award! Geez Blake!

Carrie Underwood was the big story! Not only her wins with Top Female and Album of the Year, but walking her the carpet with her boyfriend, Tony Romo, starting quarterback for the Cowboys! Carrie?! Great guy!! He was soooooo sweet and a real cutie! They were very cute together. I think she may have been hesitant about spilling the beans but she should feel great about it. He's such a great guy!

Welp..I better get to bed. I get to lay out by the pool, finally before heading back home to Nashville. And let me tell you, I do love my Nashville. Home Sweet Home here I come! :) Nite guys. Thanks for logging on. S-

PS Go check out all the photos from the Orange Carpet!

I loved Carrie Underwood's performance on the ACM show. I'm thrilled she won 3 awards, and I feel she deserves the approbation. However, one thing bothers me; and several friends have observed this and mentioned it to me. The country community of celebrities does not seem to welcome Carrie, or to be happy about her success. Is this our imagination, or have they not accepted Carrie as a genuinely talented singer? I can hardly wait to buy her next CD.

I loved watching the ACM show. You and Nan do a great job! I love how all the stars seem to get a long and welcome each other. One question though..if you are nominated for album of the year once, can you try again next year? Vince Gill's "These Days" 4 cd set is just the best. I switch CD's from one to the other in my car each day to work. He is such a outstanding writer and versatile singer. His album came out a lot later then some of the others nominated this year. Is there a chance it could be up again next year? Thanks!
