That's what one guy said here in Texas when I asked him how long it's been since they've seen this much rain!
We're supposed to be shooting shows here at Country Thunder in Texas - talking to the artists and fans and just having fun. Unfortunately it's been raining non stop since yesterday! Not only raining but major thunderstorms. Today's concerts were all cancelled. The fans, for their own safety weren't allowed on the grounds. Flooding and mud everywhere! The water was literally up to our ankles. But still we were able to talk to some artists - Chris Young, Randy Rogers Band, Trick Pony and Neal McCoy. They were all here to play today but couldn't go on - So we all kind of stuck around backstage waiting under canopys and awnings for the rain to clear but it never did.
Neal commented that he has never seen a show, or festival cancel an entire day - but under the circumstances he understood. He was funny walking around in his crocs with mud all over his legs. Country Thunder turned into "Thunderstock"! It's pretty sad. It was going to be a great music festival. The food, vendors, the shows and it's all gone unused - for today anyway. We are praying for sunshine or at least no rain, hoping the shows go on tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing Lorrie Morgan and Reba is playing tomorrow night! She's going to be here and the thought of not getting to see her sing really...well...it really stinks! I feel bad for the crew too- These folks that put these shows on , work their butts off to make it all go smoothly but well..you can't do a thing about the weather.
Here in this small town, Coriscana Tx-where we are staying there is only one restaurant across from our hotel. I feel like we've eaten there 100 times already! No fair food to be had since everything has closed up so some of us are planning to search for a new place to eat tomorrow morning before we had back to the fairgrounds.
That's about as exciting as it gets for now - hee! Oh yea, we all bought rubber boots - the kind that go up to your knees, to be able to walk around at the fair. Yea, that's how bad it is there! And let me tell you we weren't the only ones. Everyone that has plans on attending the show were scooping 'em up too. It was funny talking to everyone - I mean, you'd just look at who was trying to find their size in these, not so attractive boots, and go "Oh - See you at the show?" Ha!
Well there is something to be said about being in it "together" right?
I'll let you know how tomorrow goes here from Waxahachie Texas - Thanks for loggin on guys!
