Bowling for Charity

Posted on June 5, 2007 at 11:02 AM

Even though I grew up, literally, in a bowling alley, doesn't mean I can bowl! Ha!

It's officially here! CMA Music Festival. Fan Fair!

For the last 3 years Lonestar has held their "Lonestar and Friends Strike Out For The Kids" bowling charity event to help raise money for St. Judes. It's kind of the kick-off to the week long festival of concerts, fan club parties, and other charity events here in Nashville. And for the first time I actually got to participate in an event instead of working it. Not that I mind working any kind of event that is for charity but it was fun to just be able to hang out with the fans and artists.

Last night along with Lonestar, Trent Tomlinson, Tracy Lawrence, Michael Peterson, Buddy Jewel, gosh who else? Um, Tanya Tucker, Carolina Rain, so many artists I can't remember them all - oh Jeff Bates who bowled next to me for the 2nd game - It was a cool event! My first game I did bowl over 100 so that was a relief. Listen, not everyone did so I was proud of that and coming from a mom who is a serious bowler I think I held my own. I was trying to beat out Trent Tomlinson who bowled a great game - 171!

My 2nd game was ruined thanks to Storme Warren - host of CMAA. He was hosting the night of bowling. Every time I had to pick up the spare he was there with the mic watching me and I would blow it! Then when I jumped over to talk with Nan Kelley who was there taping GAC TOP 20 - Storme had to fill in for me, twice! And guess what. He threw a gutter ball everytime!! So I am not claiming that 2nd game at all!! Ha! So watch Top 20 this weekend to catch all the artists and all the fun - It was very cool and I was happy to be a part of it! All the money went to St. Jude! So thanks to all the fans who came out and thanks for being so great!

Unlike the other hosts on GAC I don't get to see much of the fans at the GAC Booth, because I am covering the Riverstages events during the week - So it was cool last night to get to talk to some of the folks who've been watching GAC for several years - It's neat to hear that. Thanks for watching, like the artists always say to us - "they wouldn't have a career if it weren't for their fans". Really, who would buy their records, right? Well same goes for us on GAC - We wouldn't have the gigs we have if no one was tuning in! So thanks, as always, for watching!

The fun continues - Fans heading out to see Chely Wright's annual Reading, Writing and Rhythm concert at the Wildhorse- Tomorrow there are parties and shows and then ..da-da-da-dom (sfx)-Fan Fair is here! Thursday morning, my first interview is at 9am with Terri Clark who'll kick off the four day concert event at Riverstages. So if you're in town and you're reading this - look for us at Riverstages and come by and say hey!

See you - I'll do my best to keep you up to date with all the stuff going on!

-S

PS Thanks for all the comments - love reading them!

You and Nan can light up a room with your smiles and excitment. I can tell you love your jobs even though I know it must be a lot of hard work. When will we be seeing GAC shows of the 2007 fanfest and especially the night performances? I am so anxious - it's hard to wait! Is ABC doing something too?

Thanks!!
