Can't take the heat!
Posted on June 28, 2007 at 2:29 PM
Hey guys- Is it hot where you are? I can't take the heat. And these high temps and humidity are making it very difficult to get a descent run in. I've come to realize that it really sets the pace for the rest of my day so to speak. A bad run in the morning can make you feel kind of blah the rest of the day - just lack luster if you know what I mean. I know! I'm in for it-it's only the beginning! Ha! Oh well!
So you guys are crazy for Billy Currington! Yes he is a sweetie- A very "warm" guy-He must've grown up right. Well heck he is very close to his grandma so that says a lot. Not only the platinum party last week but yesterday ASCAP held a number one party for Billy and the songwriters of his 3 week number one - "Good Directions" - I'm happy for him- Billy's been singing demos in town for years - I mean, he''s been at this for a while and it's good to see it all falling into place for him. Oh-one of the writers of the song you guys know very well- Luke Bryan! Luke is the artist that sings "All My Friends Say" - He's another great guy. So it's a nice thing for both of them!
Oh-I did tell you guys I was going to see singer/songwriter Bruce Robison at Douglas Corner in Nashville. I did. He was great. I am just blown away by him every time. I've been listening to his music since his major label debut back in 98- "Wrapped"- Yep the one George Strait recently cut- As you can see it's an old song- It's amazing how old a song can be- around for years before someone gets their hands on it and brings it to the top of commercial radio- The one that changed Bruces' life is another song from that album- "Angry All The Time" - yep-Tim McGraw's song- Ironically enough-I am listening to Bruce's wife, Kelly Willis' cd "Translated From Love"- I'm a huge fan- The cd is great- it's in my ipod! She has this kind of "swagger" to her singing - if that makes sense. She just has a coolness about her - a lazy, easy sound. I love it!
By the way - for my birthday a while back my friends gave me speakers that you can plug your ipod into - I love it! I take this to every room with me - It's kind of funny - it's like my "modern day boombox". For those of you old enough to remember those- Has it been that long ago?
Oh- on the cowboy hat I was wearing with the cross on the front- Peter Grimm. www.petergrimm.com I had no idea but there's an entire website on his collection of all sorts of hats- the cross cowboy hat is there. Not that I mean to endorse him or anything..but I had many questions on it- so there ya go.
Up next? I am covering a cake decorating contest at the Opryland Resort this Sunday! I don't know? Don't ask. Ha! It'll be cool- they have these award winning pastry chefs , all of whom, have been featured on the Food Network - They'll be teamed up with artists- Montgomery Gentry will be there- Aaron Tippin- Dean and Michael from Lonestar- This is gonna be funnnnnyyy!! I hope we get to sample 'em! It's all for a great cause too- TJ Martell Foundation! Helping with research and aiding in curing cancer! I'll let ya know how it goes- Oh-if you're in town-c'mon out-it's open to the public!
Take care guys- Thanks for loggin' on. S-
